I unfortunately cannot get over how amazing this band is. So this is the second music video of one of their great songs that I've posted in the same 7 day period.
Are you ok with that?
hm.
Support good music, my fellows.
A music & entertainment blog... or whatever else I feel like.

There.
Technically, I discovered this band from two people around the same time. Who don't know each other. Today.
Mumford & Son's.

Those australians got it right.
Australia knows good music. Here's the proof.
IF you haven't heard of Empire of the Sun: error #1
If you haven't heard any of their music: error #2
IF you haven't seen this music video: error #3
Be prepared to either be weirded out entirely, never to return,
or
Be prepared to fall in love, watching this over and over because you can't stop yourself.
or
A derivation of that last one....but more reasonable.
(Disclaimer: these are the weirdest two songs on their album. So if you like these, you'll love the rest. Check it out.)

Two Two Weeks.
I can't think of any more clever of a way to say it.
I don't care that this is a few months old. Grizzly Bear is an amazing band, their music video's are always really well done, and if you don't listen to them already, you should. If I have the opportunity to show this song and music video to people who haven't seen it yet, even one person....then I'm a happy boy.
And would you look at that... I have a music blog. Opportunity taken.
And the reason I said there were two two weeks.....is cause of this next video. Same song, but a completely different video, that's just as creative and entertaining. I don't know who Gabe Askew is, but he made it. And therefore, he's a badass.

Complacency Kills
So I'll keep the ball rollin.
This one was difficult. Give you the actual music video, but the sound quality is poor, or find a sound only version that sounds much better?
When it comes down to it, it's about the music man. Got to get you that sound first. Visual stimulus is a plus, but the sound is what captures my heart. I don't know about yours though.
Who are you anyways? And why should you be any different from me?
We're the same.

I know this is old, and I know it's not Saturday.
But I don't give a damn.
Just realized, I have the time to talk about what I've been up to, so why not? Although I've been delivering some stand up music, I'm sure that I'm not the only person who has a decent taste in music, and wanted to blog about it. So, what else can I share?
The job search: It's really rough right now. I've been out in LA for a week, and not much has happened yet. With only a week left, I'd be surprised out of my mind if I got a job offer, let alone an interview. With the state of the recession, music industry, and blah blah everything else, it's like the doors are closed in this town, unless you really have time to dedicate. Two weeks, I now realize, is nowhere enough time to find a job in such a competitive market right now.
Does this dishearten me?
Nope.
While I admit, life is uncertain for me right now, that doesn't mean that I'm unhappy. This trip to Los Angeles has opened my eyes a whole lot about what kind of life I want to live. After an unusually clairvoyant Friday night, I know now for sure that it's not about what city you live in, it's about the relationships you make with people. Those relationships are what you should pursue in life to be happy. Not geographical locations. All you need is love baby, it's the damn truth.
And yes, there is a lot of music and entertainment business being done out here. If I can't get my foot in the door, then it doesn't matter unfortunately. And two weeks was a impractical amount of time for me to believe work could be found. And there lies the conundrum.
To find work here, I need excess of time. To gain that resource, I'd have to move here. To move here, I'd need to find a job here FIRST so I can live here. But I can't find the job, because I can't move here to look for one, without already having one. WHATTTTTTTTTTT That is a catch 22 my friend.
It's a Sunday. We will see what one more week in Los Angeles holds. But I am honestly not at all disappointed to return to Nashville when it's all said and done. I CAN stay in Nashville, which means I have all the time I need to find work in the music business there.
JUST GIVE ME A CHANCE! I just need a damn foot in the door is all!
Rant over?
yep.

GAAAHHHHHHH I mean here's a song.
A friend of mine showed me this today, and I immediately fell in love with it. After posting Kid Cudi yesterday, anyone who reads this probably thinks I can't make up my mind on the kind of music i'm into.
Music produces emotion. Good music produces powerful, emotional connection to the song. That's the kind of music I like. The good kind :)
This is Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros, and their single, "Home", which apparently, has already created lots of Buzz. Now, can you please watch this music video? And leave me be?

IS A HOT CHIP?
Laid back.......that's what I am.
I'm in Los Angeles! Spending the entire day on my computer and phone....texting, calling, applying. Life is crazy huh? Always gotta deal with finding the next thing, the next room that you fit in. I like the change though. And I really hope I find work out here.....LA is the shit.
Just got to be laid back. Please, lay back with me as you watch: "Over and Over" by hot chip.
